Nuts and Bolts

Yay Dah habis! :D

But I'm gonna miss my committee. No seriously. I will. We're a bunch of nuts really during our meetings. Well, what do you expect with Zek as the CEP? :P

And now, I cannot poke fun at Josh anymore. :( I cannot hear Joana and Salina talking about boys. I cannot hear Jenny's heartwarming laugh. I cannot see Amanda all stressed out over money. I would like to say that I'm glad Afir can't poke fun at me anymore but I know he'll find a way SOMEHOW. Goddamit.

Stuck in the Middle

My room smells like decaying flowers. No seriously. The daffodils I bought from the Cancer Council are wilting. Sigh.

Zek and Hawa. You're both right. I am hopeless.

Dear readers, your princess is going to dissappear for a few days okay? She's goin to retreat to that place where noone can touch her. Just so she'll save you the effort of listening to her complain. :) Btw, I'm going through extreme moodswings. So if you see me in public, pray its one of those high emotions. :D

Oh! I had a Vege Pie from Hannah's Pie in Ultimo for brunch today. I've ALWAYS wanted to try it. So I scarfed it down under the warm sun in front of the Powerhouse Museum. Man, I felt so cool and indie. Ha Ha Ha.

That's What Friends Are For

Psst. Do you wanna know a secret? I've got this secret fantasy right...shhh...close the door..don't let anyone else read this....

Where was I? Oh. I have this fantasy. That one day I'll get a nice huge surprise. I'll be brought to a nice open field or park. Blindfolded. Then when my eyes are opened, ALL my friends are there. And then, they start to sing for me. Disney songs.

All of them in turns, full of expression and with huge grins on their faces. Dancing and leaping in a field of daisies. All for me. To make me happy. To watch those tears of joy streaming down my face and drying under the warm summer sun.

Shaheera sweetie, this is the part where you wake up honey. My heart is aching to be free, to burst out in a flurry of emotions. Or maybe I badly want to go to Disneyland.

Seriously, what is my problem? What do you call that syndrome where when things start to unravel and go wrong, you withdraw into yourself and make up wierd fantasies? Pfft.

*slap*

Shalalalalala My Oh My!

I just want to say that I am EXTREMELY proud of the MGM team.

From the actors who did a great job, to the dancers who were spectacular, to the hardworking crew and of course the committee themseleves.

Kudos people! Especially those you'd never expect to commit themselves to something like this. :D

The show itself was really good. I had so much fun singing along and swaying to the music and laughing and clapping. But then again, these are my friends we're talking about. And they had one Disney song. Of course I was swelling with utmost pride and glee.

So up next would be the Mfest team's turn. :S Please Please Please don't let it rain. And please don't let any of us screw up. Oh and I heard the girl in front of me say, 'Omigod, I am SO going for Mfest', because she saw all the food in the video. Muahaha..Thanks Nadee! Objective tercapai! For those of you who missed it:

Binging on twisties and cherry ripe

I have been decieved!

All this while I thought the kebaya and kurung were the product of my culture and roots. They in fact, are the result of Dutch colonisers promoting more modest clothes to the Javanese women. So yes, even the Indonesian national costumes were thought of by Europeans and their Eurasian wives. Pfft.

As a few of my friends have said, the momentum is gone. You toil over something and it still doesnt seem to be over.

However, the love for Malaysia Fest is rooted deep within my soul. I think of it every hour of the day. Even til the wee hours of the night. Such is my dedication to one wonderful day filled with glorious FOOD, spectacular performances and fabulous games and prizes.

There's never been a better time to get it on

Okay. I finally realised which one was my 07/08 Summer song.

It's Faber Drive's Tongue Tied.

Its the song my pusher gave to me. Its the song my brother mock-pukes at whenever it comes on the radio. Its the song I sing the most to whenever I'm driving.
Listening to it again makes me think of heat waves in my Kelisa. And some other stuff. Haha.

Okay, I'm officially in love with Mercy Mercedes! They're my new favourite! Of course I still love ATL deeply. But hey, we gotta let the newbies get a chance yea?

No, I do not revere PETA.

It's already/only a Wednesday. I'm already beat. The days are going by pretty fast and there's always something Mfest related to do everyday. There's just SO much to do even without assignments piling up.

Anyway, I just found out how Mouse Feeder Cells are really produced. Backtrack a little. Mouse Feeder Cells are a layer of cells you put at the base of your Petri dish when you're trying to clone specific organs from stem cells. They're basically there to provide a mix of nutrients, hormones and growth factors for the stem cells. Like I said, I just found out how they make that layer. Look away if you find these things offensive. It might get a little graphic, I'm warning you....

Firstly, you dissect a pregnant female mouse. You then take out her uterine horns. After that, you slice it open carefully and unload all the embryos to a Petri dish. What are embryos you ask? Those are BABIES. Ok, so they're not a fetus yet and thus don't really resemble finished baby rats but you can see its spine and head. Where was I? Oh yes. Next, you carefully separate any uterus lining or amniotic sacs from the babies, I mean embryos. Then, you cut them open and separate the spleen, liver and intestines and cut off its head. You then take the body, put it into a fresh plate and start mincing and mashing them to make a homogenous solution. Finally, you put them into fresh medium to make them proliferate. TADA! Feeder cells!

I felt quite disturbed as I looked at the slides just now. I know they're just rats but I couldn't help thinking how wrong it was to do that. With the embryonic stem cells, even though they were using humans, the embryos used are still in the blastocyst stage and thus do not resemble human babies at all. In Islam, they haven't even had their 'Roh' put in by Allah yet as it is only 1-2 weeks after fertilisation.

Yea I lost my train of thought due to some gossip. Crud, I'm such a sucker for other people's business. Yea, cos my life is uninteresting. Anyway, enough gore. Good luck to my dating friends. And a huge slap to AFIR HAMIDI. One day, you will LET ME kick your ass.

Kau Dewiku

Udah puas mencuci mata. Cowok2nya cakep banget.

There were just too many of them. The music was great. The singers were so hot.
The NDN still made me smile and act all awkward while staring at the opposite direction. Man. The part about crushes that suck is that you know its not going anywhere. I know it's totally physical. Those dimples...the messy hair..

It's time to start pulling my weight around here. Motivation of the week: how cool I would look with a kebaya and a Walkie Talkie patrolling Tumbalong Park. If that doesn't get me attention, I don't know what will. :(

As You Wish

More men in tunics and tights!

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die"
"This is true love - you think this happens every day?"

Last night I had a few hundred bullets fired at me in the form of teasing by Afir. It didn't help that the rest of the committee agreed with him. Hahaha. But it was quite fun. So I didn't mind. As long as they don't graduate to insults and mean blows its ok.

Thanks for dinner and entertainment Afir! And thanks for the ride Salina!

I'll be going to the Dewa concert tonight. I shared a bus ride with my NDN yesterday and we waited for the bus together. Hee Hee. Oh and I of course had my mandatory Sate Padang. :D

And now, I can hear Sindy yelling and moaning (its not what you think) downstairs as she watches the Olympics. Hmph.

I'm in the business of misery

Please excuse me as I digress into that routine of ranting about my shortcomings and the general displeasure I have about my surroundings. Ho Ho.

My cholesterol is up again. Well, I'm not the least bit surprised with the lack of restraint I've been expressing this past year. I've also discovered why I'm always so lethargic and tired. I have Iron depletion. Meaning, its harder for the oxygen to bind to my haemoglobins and thus my heart needs to pump in more blood to get the oxygen to my cells.

Which would probably explain me feeling breathless most of the time. But I don't know if it correlates with me having difficulty breathing in the middle of the night. I haven't been sleeping properly this past week or two. I don't know if its my brain going to hyperdrive or my lungs not being able to retain enough air. I keep thinking about things that make me restless (no, it has nothing to do with boys and love, contrary to popular belief) and I keep taking deep breaths with my mouth open.

Or maybe I'm just imagining all of this. Like how I imagined my liver was vibrating and made me fear that it was ceasing to function. Yea, maybe I am off my rocker.

Oh well. I just had to put it out somehow. I think if I say it out loud, people would think its a way of getting attention. But I can't keep it inside. It bothers me too much. But I'm sure to most, it seems too trivial and annoying anyway. So at least by writing it here, people have a choice of reading it if they want to or not.

Sigh, its just one of those days where you'd rather just lie in bed at home then gallavant outside.

So who wants to steal my heart?

I've been watching this numerous times as I wait for The Princess Bride to download.

It's just SO amazing! I think I tend to enjoy lyrical hip hop more. Like Sabra and Dominic's famous Ne-yo routine last year. I especially live the part where he 'steals' her heart. And the part right before that. And the...okay..I'll stop.

Great. I'm hungry already.

Jangan jaga tepi kain orang. Even though you love them and hate to see them crying in your room at odd hours of the night or day.

Lessons on how to be pretentious

I have this really bad habit of perusing beautiful people's pictures. No, I'm not talking about celebrities. I'm talking about my seniors from high school. And some other random distant friends. Yea, other people call them accquaintances.

Sometimes the lighting aint that great and yet, they look gorgeous. I think its the whole combo of designer wear, perfectly applied makeup and glamorous hair. Oh, and I love the fact that they always have soirees and bday bashes together even after so long. This isn't like 2-3 people. This is like 8 girls okay. And their partners. Which brings me to another point. Not only are they all fabulous and upper manhattan and what not, they all have boyfriends. Some have even been together since high school, and going strong despite LDRs. My god.

Okay. Maybe I'm just delusional. Oh, but you know what? Liyana and her girls look totally hot as well. And you know what else? My girls and I are definitely gorgeous too. Hee.

Ps: Last year, I had Mfest meetings and play practise on weekends and MGM dance practises on Wednesday and Saturdays. I got sick after that. Last semester, I had a week of midsession exams, the UMNO elections and Mfest stuff to submit. I had a stupid breakdown at the end of that as well. So please understand when I say, I just want to sit at home and pretend I'm antisocial. Not everyone can keep doing the same things over and over again with their hearts in it fully. It's called being jaded. Thank you.

Dr. Huxtable is my favourite TV dad.

Yay Yay Yay! The weekend brings forth new things!

I'm using my brand spanking new laptop which I have named Thalia after the Greek Muse of comedy. :D She's a Dell Inspiron 1525 and of course, much faster than my older baby. She's also purple. Hee.

I also have a new haircut. Which converted me to a firm believer in Jap hairdressers and made me shun that hairdresser in Kingsford. Needless to say, my new look (when styled properly) fills me with utmost joy. Har Har.

I almost bought a new pair of shoes. But seeing the lack of funds in my wallet (and bank account), I decided not to. But they were so pretty......:(

Okay, now I'm off to browse some bands and Youtube. Hehehehe...
Oh and do my EIS. Pergh.

All Day Long I think about Cheese

Oh Hello. I got my new laptop today! I haven't opened the box yet. But I'm feeling tingles in my tummy at this moment. Or maybe it was the petits fours I had for breakfast this morning. Oh boy, that new patisserie in Randwick, the one Zek and Siew Ching says is just 'alright' is like magic to me. Then again, cake displays always seem like magic to me. But you should see the range of pretty culinary treats they have. Unfortunately, they were out of brioches. :(

To all Geeks out there. Especially Zek and Paan. Please, I beg of you, do not attempt this:
Star Wars Wedding
Star Wars Wedding Guests

Okay. Now that that's settled, please tell me why I'm still lethargic and bored and unmotivated.

Oh, and while you're at it, please go and watch ATL's Poppin' Champagne on Youtube. Those adorable idiots actually danced in this one. Moves that resembled an aerobic warmup, square dancing and boyband 101. So yes, that made me smile.

Okay. (I say that a lot don't I?) I'm off to do some readings! Bye!

Dosado and then See Saw then Promenade to Turkey in the Straw

I am SOOOO excited! I am filled with utmost GLEE! Which is why I wanted to share this with you guys. I know, I'm collecting a lot of smirks and snorts this way. But I don't care. I'm watching something that makes me happy. And rather than bitch about what's making me tick, I'd rather show you this:

Which was what taught me who George Washington, Paul Revere, Davy Crockett and Abraham Lincoln were. And what made me think Texas was cool. Hmm..Yea I watched all Three parts.
AAAAAANNNDDDD

My absolute FAVOURITE water world song!!! :D
Sigh. I love taking trips back to childhood.

Speaking of which, I watched a special on Oprah about kidnapped children who were sexually molested. Some of the offenders are allowed to walk free after just a month of lock down. It enraged me to think that countless other children will fall victim to such horrendous, evil people because of the lack of law enforcement in certain states. Back in the home front, things are worse, with Sex Offense cases not being reported and children suffering in silence.

Now that cast a grey cloud on my horizon. Sigh. I really hope better security and laws can be enforced to help protect the children. I do want these children to live long enough without trauma to enjoy their daily dose of Kidsongs.

'She's not petite, Lars. She's a BIG BIG girl!'

I just finished watching Lars and the Real Girl. It's such a bittersweet story. I cried countless times sporadically during the movie. It's a must watch for those with hearts made of putty.

It's sad but heartwarming. It made my heart ache to think that there are people out there who create little delusions and escape to them whenever they want to. It also made my heart swell to see how much everyone loves him by just playing along with his fantasy.

It truly is a great movie, showing how people really work. Displaying the kindness of humans and the intricate situations our minds weave.

Now, imagine me talking to some non-existent person and being oblivious that noone else sees him. Okay, so my mom has seen this when I was a kid. But just imagine Prince Garuda making a comeback, Mummy. I bet he's really good looking now. ;)

Anyway, I'm going to have satay soon. See you!
